Lucky me, another lunch and photo walk with friends :) …. taken a little while ago, but with this crazy time of year I have been pretty slow in getting posts up on either blog.  These photos were taken around the Northern Beaches, and lunch was by the water around Church Point.  Not too many flowers out at the moment, but there always something around to photograph.  This day it was the weeds, big tall grasses, and teeny tiny weeds where we had to lie down on the grass to get them :)

Winter Sun …

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Now that its winter, my house gets much more sun coming through the front windows.  Coupled with my new white chair purchase from ebay, for a staggering 5$ :) .. it made a perfect backdrop for my anniversary flowers ….  These 3 photos have some new gorgeous textures on them from Shana Rae of Florabella Textures …

Giving of time … ACOCP …. Sydney Photographer

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Very exciting news … after following a link from Flickr to an American site for donating your time as a photographer, I googled for a similar organisation here in Australia ….. and I found the same organisation.   I have been accepted into the Australian Community of Child Photographers   http://www.acocp.org.au/ This is a group of photographers that volunteers their time to photograph families that experience pre term labours, still births, sick children in Neo natal intensive care, and also for those families whose children have serious illness or are terminally ill.  Some have wondered why you would do this, the reason was really so simple.  When Charlotte (my miss 9)  was sick and going through chemotherapy we really only existed day to day with hospital visits, chemo, xrays and at home we were busy keeping her well and not letting her central line get infected…. if treatment hadn’t gone as well as it did then we as a family would have had no photos at all of that year ……. When you have a seriously ill child making photographic memories is quite possibly the last thing on your mind, it certainly was with us.  So this way I can offer that service to other parents who are rightly so all consumed with their child ….

So if you are a parent looking for this service please contact me through email, if you are a health care professional who might want to have more information please contact me or just to keep this in your mind if you ever come across this situation ….. or if you are photographer that would like to donate your time, please follow the link above to their website and application details are all there ……

And because a post is not complete without a photo …. I bought these beautiful Dahlia the other day ….

People often ask how did you get into taking floral photographs, well it was a strange journey and I am pretty sure the starting point was a girl named Helen or she is better known as ‘geisha. When I arrived in Malaysia I felt pretty isolated, the kids were settled into school and Rob was at work with a ready made set of friends. I needed some contact with Australia and it came in the way of a magazine that I had subscribed to, Notebook. Through the forums, which was a life saver at the time, I meet Helen, and she showed us some amazing photographs with her little point and shoot camera …. from there it all just fell into place. I bought myself a newer flashier point and shoot, and because I hated going outside in this oppressive tropical heat the flowers came to me in the way of our local floral warehouse … the rest they say … is history. I have many floral images available for sale on Redbubble, a fantastic artist community. SO HERE IS MY LINK TO REDBUBBLE
