I think it might be time to combine my two blogs, its getting too hard to keep two of the going with some regularity … so for now, I will link the two, since they are both based around my love of photography …

I really enjoy food photography, so still and calm, unlike babies and toddlers …. I would like to get into some more, its just finding those opportunities …

Just finished some new photographs for my friends website, another two sets of wine charms and a new line of earrings. I think I have cracked the lighting now so I am only having to take one photo rather than 50 like I had to at the beginning. All natural light, but I have to place my reflector, with no reflective cover on, between the product and the light source, gives a nice even light.

I have blogged a little while back about the ACOCP, Australian Community of Child Photographers, where we volunteer to take photographs for families with terminally ill children, prematures births and stillborns. Its an honour to be let into these families lives at such a emotional and often painful time. Each year the ACOCP have an Exhibition to show and promote the work that we do, hopefully to reach some new photographers willing to volunteer and also to highlight to the community that this service is available. Three of my photographs have been accepted into this years Exhibition in Melbourne at the Eckersley’s Open Space Gallery opening on the 14th of July. If you are in Melbourne, do go along and have a look at the exhibition, there are some wonderful photographs and stories being shared this year.

There are stories that go along with the photographs but I haven’t posted them here …

I love second shooting for Luisa at Serendipity Corner Photography , she brings such energy and happiness to the occasion that it’s infectious .. you can’t help but have fun, even if by the end of the day my feet hurt like crazy and I have a dead arm from carrying around the enormous 70-200 2.8 lens …. A beautiful couple, in a wonderful setting, especially by the water at Lavender Bay in Sydney. All the best to Kylie and Christian for a fabulous life ahead of you. Some of my photos from the day ..

A couple of weeks ago I went up to the Blue Mountains with 7 friends .. no husbands, no children … just girls, talking, drinking and flaming snakes .. (inside joke, sorry) .. as the majority went on the cliff walk towards Echo Point, two of us .. the photography nuts .. went to the Everglades National Trust house and spent a good couple of hours walking around the gardens talking loads of photos …. so here are the best ones …. can’t wait till next years trip … Southern Highlands I think …

We also found out on the weekend, that one amaoung has become a star, infamous, richer and ecstatic .. having won the Hunters Hill Art Prize with on eof her amazing paintings … Here is link to her website , the painting on the left of the main page was the winner …. Congrats again Jana ….

A trip to the new Home Centre near where I live, wasn’t planned for today, nothing like impromptu shopping … This cute little wooden tree was found in Shack, a store filled with a strange array of things. From chinese cabinets, to the white shabby chic furniture. Since the revival of all things handmade, I love they way Owls are depicted … so cute …. So in the spirit of Easter coming up, I combined a few wooden eggs to give it a Eastery feel.

Last Saturday a recent Flickr friend married, and it was probably the only wedding I have been to where the photographers out numbered the wedding party .. I hope the Bride and Groom enjoyed their day, I certainly did…. even if the ring dropped through two stories of floor boards just a few pics from the wedding by the beach ..

A Competition Win ..

Last October I received this mystery email from Home Beautiful Magazine giving details for a photography competition. Being an avid reader of all those Homes magazines, I was suprised that I had missed it in the actual magazine. So of course I had to enter .. given the closing deadline was just over a week away I had to hurry …. the competition called for up to 3 images that portrayed the Australian Home/Lifestyle. As usual many thoughts run through my head, but pulling them off is always the hard thing….. I thought cricket in the cul-de-sac with the garbage bin as stumps was a good idea but that never came off … lol … So for the first I wanted to portray Australians current love of white interiors so I dragged in a friend with a new white kitchen and we ghosted her walking through her kitchen … the result I loved ! ….

The second was our desire for the holiday home … in hindsight I don’t really like this one and probably shouldn’t have entered it ..

The third was the one that was selected … This one is a huge part of our life…the swimming pool. The kids are in the pool everyday, assuming the weather is good, so I had to give it a go. Charlotte was the only volunteer and we were lucky with the weather, because it had been cold and definitely not pool weather. However this day, it had been 34 c and she had just walked home from school, so she was ready for a swim.. Lucky for us The winning entry …

So the prize for winning the Peoples Choice section !! … I get to spend $1000 dollars at Oz Design Furniture … and also the entries are publish in Home Beautiful Magazine at a future date ! ….
